Maddigan's Quest is a 13-part children's TV series which was filmed in New Zealand, as a co-production between South Pacific Pictures, CBBC, Nine Network and TV3. It is set in a time after a great catastrophe, when society is still being rebuilt. Solis, the Shining City, is one of the few areas of peace in a now hostile world. It is run on solar power - but the solar converter is wearing out. The last group of people sent to get a new one never returned.

The Council of Solis turn to Maddigan's Fantasia, a circus who leave the city every year to perform in other places, thinking they will be less conspicuous. But then two boys arrive, claiming they are from a future ruled by the terrible Nennog. And after them come two of the Nennog's minions...

The Fantasia know just how important their mission is. But it will also be long and hard, and they will be harried every step of the way. Can they save Solis from falling into darkness?
