Short synopsis:
On the journey back to Solis, the Fantasia are diverted from their route because of landmines. They must now travel through Urukopaina – radioactive tunnels of the dead. Guided by the Tunnellers, hopelessly mutated humans who can tunnel like moles, they make their journey through the passageways. What they don’t know, however, is that the landmines were planted by Ozul and Maska, who wished them to travel through Urukopaina – as such, the Fantasia face many dangers underground.

Full episode recap:
On the route back to Solis, the Fantasia find the road blocked with landmines. They have no alternative but to change their route to go through Urukopaina – tunnels through the mountains. This is the world of the Tunnellers – hopelessly mutated humans who can tunnel like moles. Rich, important people pay the Tunnellers to create crypts for the dead within the mountain. Timon also tells Garland of how, in the future, Solis obtains it’s nuclear fuel from mines within these mountains, and so the tunnels are radioactive.

Realising they will require a guide to help them navigate the tunnels, Maddie speaks to the chief Tunneller, who accepts payment of a show. However, by show he means singing, and so Lilith is overjoyed to sing for the Tunnellers, who love her. The chief Tunneller agrees to guide them through the mountains, but the Fantasia vehicles will not fit. They will have to go via a road which runs around the mountains, which passes through the Tunnellers village. The Tunnellers state that their village is a secret, and so only the ‘song-bird’ (their new name for Lilith) may see it. Yves states that he must come as well, and so the Tunnellers agree, so long as he is blindfolded.

In the tunnels, Garland, Timon and Eden get separated from the others and meet Morag, a strange woman who claims to be lost herself. They shout for Goneril and the others, and hear a reply. Morag guides them down a passage, saying she heard them calling from there. Once in the passage, Ozul, who has been following them, detonates an explosive to block the passageway. They have no choice to continue, and find a huge chamber where the crypts are located. At this point, Morag reveals her true identity – she is the Nennog, who has ‘possessed’ this woman’s body. Ozul also makes himself known. The Nennog takes the Talisman, and starts forcing the children to go through the transporter. They are trapped.

Meanwhile up top, Maska punctures a tyre on one of the Fantasia’s trucks. During the fuss involved with fixing it, Maska takes the solar converter and Lilith. The Tunnellers immediately burrow into the ground, and catch up with Maska and Lilith later on. They pelt Maska with rocks and free their song-bird! Lilith, with the converter, returns to Yves.

Without the Talisman, Eden can do nothing … or so he thought. He is still able to use his power, and repels Ozul. He then forces a swarm of radiation-loving grubs to attack the Nennog, who then falls through the activated transporter. Guided by a tunneller, they escape Urukopaina unharmed and continue on their return journey to Solis. Having been diverted from their course, this will involved them going off the map. Eden, who thought he was powerless without the Talisman, has a lot to think about.
