Full episode recap:
At long last, after weeks of travel, the Fantasia reach Newton. Before entering the complex, Maddie warns the others that the Newtonians hold vast quantities of knowledge, and as such have rather peculiar personalities.
After being scanned for bad intentions, the Fantasia enter the complex, where the children of Newton soon pelt them with tomatoes. Lilith is furious, exclaiming that she could have been killed. The Fantasia later learn that the Newtonians have only recently been able to have children, and so value them more than anything, allowing them to do whatever they please. When the leader of the children, Bolek, tells Lilith this, she decides to join them, as she is fed up with Garland and the others bossing her around.
Yves and Maddie, acutely aware that the Newtonians have been expecting them, go to talk to Scrimshaw and Rosalind, two Newtonians, about the solar converter. They are told that it is in the process of calibrating, and will be ready within a few hours. However, they also find someone else who claims to be from Solis, wanting the solar converter. Outraged at this impostor, Yves grabs the converter and is about to storm out … when he discovers that he has actually taken a revolutionary multi-vegetable peeler. Scrimshaw and Rosalind suggest that the group sits down and discuss what to do.
Garland, aware that Timon and Eden are hiding something from her, confronts them. Timon tells her that in the future, Newton is just a myth, a city which sunk into the ground after tectonic activity. More worryingly, he tells her that Bolek is his grandfather, and the Nennog’s chief geneticist. He is responsible for so much of the suffering in Solis.
At that point, tremors shake the complex. At the Fort, a hideout built by the children of Newton, a number of biohazard containers break, leaking their contents. Realising that Lilith is missing, and that she and the other children are in danger, Yves commands Scrimshaw to take them to the Fort. Reluctantly, as they might upset the children, he agrees.
Once there, they find the door protected by a scanner which will only allow under 16’s in. Garland, Timon, Eden and Boomer enter, and persuade the children to leave. Aware that there is a contamination risk, however, the central computer seals the are before Garland, Timon, Lilith or Bolek escape. Timon confronts Bolek, and seriously considers leaving him there to die. However, pointing out that neither he, Eden or Jewel would exist without Bolek, Garland persuades Timon to help the all escape. They do so, and are greeted by Maddie, Yves, Scrimshaw and Rosalind.
During this commotion, the impostor claiming to be from Solis escapes without the converter. With the ‘bad intentions’ scanner malfunctioning after the tremor, Ozul and Maska manage to enter the complex, and demand the solar converter. Goneril tells them they can have it, and lets them run away with the multi-vegetable peeler. As a way of thanking them for saving their children, Scrimshaw and Rosalind give the Fantasia the fully-calibrated solar converter. Before leaving for the return journey to Solis, complete with solar converter, Maddie gives the adult Newtonians a parenting lesson, to prevent their children taking control again.
