Full episode recap:
As they begin their annual circus run, the Fantasia are attacked by ‘road rats’ – the highwaymen of the roads outside of Solis. The Fantasia put up a good fight, but nonetheless the road rats take the Foodwagon (which is later found, empty), and Ferdy is shot. Pointing out that there is no food, Yves suggests that the Fantasia cancel this run and return to Solis. Maddie tells them they cannot, as the council of Solis has sent them on a quest. The solar converter, which powers all of Solis, is wearing out, and must be replaced. Previous groups sent to Newton to obtain a new converter have never returned, and so the council decided to send Maddigan’s Fantasia, as they travel regularly anyway, so may not be suspected.
Meanwhile, two boys, Timon and Eden, with their baby sister Jewel, arrive from the future. Unsure whether they have made it in time to save Ferdy, they watch the Fantasia for a while. Eden creates a roadblock, to stop the Fantasia running into the next gang of road rats. Baffled by this sudden disappearance of the road, Yves suggests that they pull-back to a side road, where they can carry on and look for a settlement.
Sure enough, they soon find a small settlement, where they agree to put on a show for the settlers in exchange for food and medical help for Ferdy, Unfortunately, it is too late for Ferdy, who is later buried on the edge of the settlement.
Realising that they are being followed by Ozul and Maska, Timon and Eden go to Garland and ask to join the Fantasia. Garland, perplexed by these two strange boys, explains that Maddigan’s Fantasia is the best in the world, and they cannot just accept anyone. At that moment, Ozul and Maska enter the camp, and Timon pleads with Garland to hide them. As soon as the boys are hidden, Ozul finds Garland and asks if she has seen the boys, claiming he is their uncle, and telling her there is a reward available.
Later that night, the Fantasia perform for the settlers, but without Ferdy as ringmaster, the show does not go well. At this point, Eden takes over and demonstrates his amazing special powers to the crowd. The audience watch in awe, and at the end reward the Fantasia with much food. Realising how useful these boys could prove, Yves suggests they continue with the Fantasia, and the troupe continue on their quest.
