Eoin Colfer appeared on the children's BBC television show Blue Peter on 19th September 2005. During rehearsals he was asked additional questions that were later posted on the Blue Peter website, but which have since been removed. An archive copy is provided here.

From Josh: How old were you when you wrote your first full novel?
Eoin: I wrote my first full novel when I was 20 but it didn't get published because I didn't spend enough time planning it and making it the best it could possibly be.

From Coolcookie: Have you ever been stuck for ideas?
Eoin: I have a few tricks to get round writer's block. If I get an idea, anything, day or night, I'll write it down. So when I get stuck for ideas I go back to my 'ideas folder' and it helps me out.

From Roisin: Who's your favourite character in your books?
Eoin: One is a dwarf with a flatulence problem and the other is a 12 year old detective that I'm writing at the moment. His name is Fletcher Moon - he's from a new series!

From Joe: How long do you spent planning a book?
Eoin: I usually plan one book while writing another book. It can take anything from two weeks to three months - but Artemis Fowl took two years!

From Maz: Do you travel to places around the world to get ideas?
Eoin: I often get ideas when I'm in different places. I do a lot of research as well on the internet and the library so I write about places well. I've written about Vietnam - so I read about it and watched natural history movies. But if possible, go there.
